Welcome to your PBwiki!

This wiki is being used as an instructional tool as teachers in the HCSD in Hilton, New York, learn about wikis and how to use them in their classrooms.

I love the idea of a class wiki where students can build on each other's ideas. Last year I even took a class that Lori taught and started by own wiki but then never did anything with it. I think it could be a great way to differentiate learning.

I really like the class wiki because it allows students to gain information, while also contributing. I was comparing it to my website that I am currently creating, and I really like that students can write in schedules, assignments, etc. What a great way to communicate with the entire class. I would really like to set one up for my classroom.

I have a couple of projects that I think the use of the Wiki might enhance students' work and understanding. Also, posting the finished product allows students who did not attend class the opportunity to view and comment on the group project as well as raising the level of concern for the postees.

Wikis really do seem easy to navigate and contribute to! I like the collaborative aspect in that different people can contribute rather than only one author. As a primary teacher, I think a wiki could be a valuable tool to use to collaborate with colleagues as well.

I feel so out of the loop that I have never created a wiki or even been on one, well I guess wikipedia. I am co teaching a Global 9 class and I can definitely see us being able to use a wiki for a project instead of poster board and markers, etc. I like how you can make them public or private, this puts my mind at ease a little about the safety. I know I will come around, I do now use a credit card online :)

I like the collaboration of knowledge found in wikis. I find myself using Wikipedia quite often when I need to look up something quickly or find links to resources found on the bottom of each page. I do worry about validity and accuracy of certain wiki posts. In some cases, I find the resource links at the bottom of each post to be more valuable than the wiki post itself.

I think that Wikis would be an interesting way to share and collaborate with many people in many different places. I wonder how you get the wiki out there, though so that people other people can find it and post.

I could see several classes contributing to a common wiki. This would be great for an interdisciplinary project!

I am using wiki's for the library schedule as well as a quick way to publish student work like animoto videos and voicethread. We have also been using wiki's with the transition committee to create a manual.
